History

When Tim Dunn was a little boy he struggled to wrap his tongue around the word ‘pussycat’ and instead settled for Pushka as the name of the household cat.

When beginning his first business in 2005 he payed homage to his first pet and Pushka Espresso Bar was born. Transforming a lingerie store into a quirky café and bar at the end of an alley, off a laneway; the café however hidden, developed a steady and loyal customer base that has seen the business through til today.

With a change of ownership in 2008, Pushka has flourished in the café scene as an oasis away from the bustle of the city. Although well known for its intrinsically ‘Melbourne hidden laneway’ feel, it has operated on a word of mouth trade that has kept it for the most part, a well kept secret.

Known for its great coffee, miniature art gallery and the casual warmth of the staff members – Pushka remains a refuge for the locals, and a true Melbourne experience for the traveler.
